Every little bit counts.
Perhaps better than anyone, artists know what it’s like to keep working (on top of everything else) on a shoestring when times are tough. The Young Space Grant makes $500 available in individual grants on a rolling basis, as funds become available.*
The grant is available for one independent artist in the United States who demonstrates a dedication to their practice, but currently finds it difficult to make ends meet or to get the supplies/resources they need. The only catch is that to be eligible, artists must be nominated by someone (artist or otherwise) who knows that they demonstrate a need for assistance. Applicants who are nominating artists can nominate up to three individuals that they feel would benefit (separate applications required for each). All applications will be carefully reviewed, and the selected artist will then receive the grant directly from Young Space.
This is an equal opportunity for all artists who are living in the US, regardless of age, race, religion, gender, immigration status, sexual orientation, etc., and is not a curated competition or award grant (so put that CV away!). There is no fee. Keep an eye on this page for the next available grant opportunity!
* Sales of artwork and submission fees for opportunities listed in Young Space are used to fund this and other projects to support artists and art-making.
