I’ve included only half of the series in this post of a series of twelve spectacular small-scale paintings that comprise the Untwinned Horn series by New Orleans-based artist Norah Lovell. The series was on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum during ArtPrize 2014.
Borrowing from the ancient Riddles of the Symphosius, twelve images interpret tenth century riddle poems wherein overwraught subjects (hair, mule, stone…) emerge by asking puzzling questions about themselves, in a sense riddling themselves full of holes.
